Wood
All woods used for Tokunaga furniture are grown and lumbered in Japan.
There are choices of woods, depending on the style.
Surface
All wooden surfaces of Tokunaga furniture are "kanna-finished", without using sand paper. There are choices of surface colors depending on the style.
Colors of the wood surfaces are of traditional Japanese natural ingredients.
Seat
All seat material used for Tokunaga furniture is made and processed in Japan.
There are choices of fabrics, depending on the style. Colors of the fabrics are dyed by traditional Japanese natural ingredients.
Water-repellent ceramic
Tokunaga chairs are kanna-finished with no lacquer coating or painting.
Some are dyed with natural ingredients such as persimmon and iron dye, and all are applied with “water-repellent ceramic” on wood surfaces.
It’s a special transparent ceramic liquid which penetrates deeply into wood and protects from water without disturbing the “breathing of the wood” and its natural appearance.

Size adjustments
Tokunaga chairs are made for the best comfort for average adults.
Should there be any minor or major requests for extra large or small sizes, please consult with us.
Usually the minor adjustments are possible as all Tokunaga chairs are hand made to order.
Examples: height of the seat; depth of the seat; length and heights of the arms...
Maintenance
Daily maintenance is to wipe with dry cloth.
In case of damage on surface, please consult with us.
How to purchase
Tokunaga “Signature” and “tatara” chairs are made only on specific orders.
Please contact us first for our quotes, delivery, shipping charges, payment method and cancellation policy. ( “ichi Yoshino” chairs may be in stock, depending on the type and quantity.)
Packing
The most practical and safe packing is made for each chair or each group of chairs under Studio’s supervision.
Shipping charges
Airfreight is the standard shipping method. Please consult with us for other preferred methods.
Since the shipping charges highly depend on the destination and the volume, we will quote specifically on each order.
The choice of “FOB Japan airport”, “CIF destination airport” or “deliver to your door” can be selected.
Taxes and other charges
Import and local taxes at the destination are to be covered by the customer. In certain countries and areas, some special charges may be required at the customs. Please consult with us.
